Explore the Art of Imperfection
Join this class with Annelies Nuy on the art of Kintsugi, an age-old Japanese tradition in which items of broken pottery are repaired with a golden lacquer. There is much to be gained, both artistically and spiritually, from the practice and philosophy of Kintsugi, but most notably it teaches us to celebrate imperfection rather than conceal it.
After an introduction and a relaxation exercise, you will break a plate you have brought (or take a piece of porcelain you love and have already accidentally broken), and use the shards to compose a new plate.
This workshop invites students to embrace imperfection and reflect on how we turn perceived "flaws" into strengths. It offers a calming, mindful experience that reduces stress and encourages personal reflection.
This event takes place in Create.
Please note: There are two timeslots for this workshop. You can join the first sitting (17:15–19:15) or the second sitting (19:30–21:30). There are separate ticket options available for each time slot. You can reserve your free tickets here.
This event is part of How Are You (HAU) Week. This week is all about creating space for you in a hectic student life. It’s an invitation to check in with yourself and each other. Find out more about HAU Week here.
