Foraging Walk and Workshop

  • Exhale Mekelweg 8-10 Delft, ZH, 2628 CN Netherlands (map)

Discover local herbs and plants in the local area

Join this foraging workshop with our host Shuang Xu to discover local plants and herbs around campus, learn about their properties, and how you can cook with them. You will be surprised to discover many varieties in the local area that you can use in cooking; late summer and early Autumn is a particularly ideal time to forage because a variety of nuts, wild fruits, and greens are in season.

Take a walk with Shuang around campus and leave the session with many insights on local plants and herbs, and new ideas for how to cook with them.*

*Please note we will not be cooking a meal during this workshop.

This event takes place in Create (and outside).

About Shuang Xu:
Shuang Xu is an interdisciplinary artist and designer whose work explores cultural narratives, situated landscapes, and migrant histories. Employing methodologies such as foraging, collecting, cooking, and storytelling, she translates her research and findings into sensory performances, installations, and graphic forms.

Her practice revolves around researching themes of identity and holding spaces for marginalized voices. Through her work, she aims to bring reflection of diverse perspectives and critically reflect on singular narratives. Recently, her research has focused on reconceptualizing the notion of nativeness, exploring both the ecological and social dimensions of belonging. By delving into the intricate relationships between humans and the environment, she invites viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of ecological systems and cultural identities, facilitating a deeper understanding of our collective landscape.
